Welcome to my weekly diary charting the ups and downs of turning my Victorian whodunnit, Octopus: Octavius Guy & The Case of the Throttled Tragedienne, into a podcast. I'm its author, Michael Gallagher. Beric Livingstone is its narrator.
Where Beric is at:
Again no word from Beric, which is fine.
Here Beric reads from the end of Chapter 9, when Gooseberry arrives home to find a stranger at his table guzzling soup.
"'E ain't nothing to do with me!"

Where I am at:
I spent the week marking up the transitions: in the novel these are the changes of scene or the passages of time; in the audio they'll hopefully be marked by a short clip of Vivaldi. I have remarkably little to show for this couple of days' work. I have a list of what time each occurs in the audio file together with a note about the nature of the transition, whether it is neutral, ominous, comic, short, or quizzical.
All this is terribly hopeful on my part (as I've mentioned before, the nature of The Four Seasons doesn't lend itself to being cut up into short, discrete clips) but any clips I manage to make can be used several times throughout the complete audio recording – as long as they're not overused.
At least I've managed to get as far as Chapter 9, so at least I've caught up with Beric.
Till next time folks!
